Changing tactile button LEDs

Changing LEDs from cold to warm white - A Boeing 737-800 Homecockpit #85

Since I started to use tactile buttons with included LEDs. I was always wondering that they are mostly sold with cold white LEDs. For the cockpit building you are mostly using warm white LEDs for backlighting. So I always came out with different backlight colors for my buttons, like the tranfer buttons in the pedestal.

But the included LEDs are not built in for eternity and can easily be removed. So finally I invested the time and searched for comparable warm white LEDs that I can build in. And yes, you can find them.

Make sure you are using the 1,5 mm LEDs for the 6 mm tactile buttons. Bigger LEDs have a different shape concerning the legs and won't fit into the housing of the button. So look out for LEDs with the legs going away to the sides.

You can download this bending jig for free. By using it you can precisely bend the legs so that you insert it into the button housing.
